Choose LED strip for signs, displays and interiors

Compare 12V and 24V strip by wattage per metre, colour temperature, beam appearance, cut length and IP rating. COB strip provides a more continuous line of light, while SMD formats can suit projects where LED pitch and output match the diffuser and installation depth.

For longer runs, calculate voltage drop before installation. Use suitable cable, keep within the recommended maximum run and add power injection where needed rather than assuming one feed will produce even brightness from end to end.

LED strip lights — frequently asked questions

Should I choose 12V or 24V LED strip?

Both can work well when matched to the correct power supply. For longer runs, 24V strip generally carries less current for the same wattage and can make voltage-drop management easier. Follow the product cut length and maximum-run guidance.

How do I prevent brightness drop along an LED strip run?

Calculate the load, use suitably sized cable and add power injection where required. Long runs should not be fed from one end without checking voltage drop and the strip manufacturer’s maximum recommended continuous length.

Can IP65 LED strip be used outdoors?

IP65 strip has protection against dust and water jets, but the complete installation must also protect cut ends, joints, cables, power supplies and controllers. Assess the real exposure and provide suitable drainage and mounting.

Does Glowfy supply LED strip across the UK?
